Well it is back. I do not know what the problem is. It came back as soon as I updated to .20. I did not wait for ebuilds and just hacked together an overlay useing some ebuilds from svn overlays. I upgraded gcc and rebuilt my entire system and it seems I am getting even more crashes. I think I may have to start from scratch because I have know idea where my problem is.

I would like to say that .20 is nice when it works. MythArchive is great and worked well.

Well if you have read my site at all you would know that I was having some problems getting mythtv to work without crashing. Well I fixed it using the latest Nvidia driver for linux amd64 . This fix came just in time for the .20 release of mythtv to be release. Now I get to upgrade and I will probably find new problems so Maybe it won't be working perfectly for long. I will have to write a bit about the new features after I upgrade.  Now the desicion is Packages from Mythtv.org or wait for ebuilds in Gentoo.

This Labor Day Weekend I was visiting some friends when my buddy pulled out his old computer and mentioned the is had no OS installed, so he asked me to go ahead and put Linux on it for him. I did not realize how bad the box was when I told him “No Problem”. I took it home and it sat for a few days until I decided to see what can be done.

IVTV is not the problem

Well I ended up not reinstalling my Gentoo/MythTV box because I found that it was a bad tv card. I took the pvr150 with the ir-blaster out and it booted up and worked. So I had it down to either the card or the Lirc drivers. I uninstalled the lirc stuff and installed the stuff from portage and it was still a no go. Yesturday I went and got a new pvr150 and wouldn't you know it, it works great again. I hate hardware problems like that because it is the expensive part of the system so it is always the last  thing to try.

Anyway, now my only problem is the freeze after watching live tv for a while. It doesn't happen if I switch channels or if I skip commercials in recorded shows but it still makes no sense to me.
