Man what a mess. So my windowsdisk formy new mythtv box got here and I could not help myself. I wanted to see what MCE was all about. Well not only does it suck and it will never come back in this house but the discs erased my partitions without even asking me.

So I reistalled gentoo but this time the stable kernel was a 2.6.17 version. Little did I know I would not be able to get Ivtv and lirc working. Back to the drawing board.

I installed the new kernel lirc ivtv and everything work great mythtv is up and running life is good.

Not so fast. the ati chip on the motherboard can not do HD if you held a gun to it so it is off to CompUSA for me. I get back and for some reason I picked up an AGP card. I was under the impression that that was what this box had. I was wrong and CompUSA was closing as I left.

Now today I get back to CompUSA I get a nice new Nvidia PCIe card and now everything is great. HDtv without XvMC is great. I am having one problem though, When I change from a DVB channel my audio stops working.

So thats about it, now I just need to fix this sound problem and get things like mythgame mythmusic and mythdvd back.

Well after all that trouble getting mythtv set up I get to do it again. You see it was a very hot day today so I was thinking of gettin an air conditioner so I went to bestbuy.

They were sold out of ACs so I decided to walk around for a bit just to look. I came to the open item shelf and I saw it. My new mythtv box. It is an HP Media Center PC m7470n. It has a dual layer dvd burner with lightScribe,  a dvd-rom,a 300 gb sata drive, Multi card reader, 2 gigs of ram, ATI xpress 200 video on board, a Hauppauge Wintv-PVR card with a radio, and an AMD64 Athlon x2 4200+.

It was only 500 dolllars and it is all mine. They had some other AMD 64 boxes for like 200 bucks but only with 512 ram. Anyway I moved my tv tuners over to it and am in the process of getting it up and running.

The good news with that is I get to have XGL back on the other box and it can now be my file server.

Progress.....
