It turns out the Nintendo Wii uses Opera to talk to theWii Shop Channel. I am close to taking advantage of it. More details when I get it to work better. Update The Wii makes more than just a connection to the HTTP server and it times out with an error code it the other conection is not made. I have only been able to browse for a short period of time before I get an error code. Another problem is that there does not seem to be a way to enter any text. Without that I don't know how I could make it worth doing. I am going to keep playing with this and see if I come up with anything else. |

A while back when Game Stop started taking preorders on the Wii I had my girlfriend go stand in line for me while I was at work and she did get the preorder in. Now I am the happy owner of a Nintendo Wii. |

It turns out software was never an issue, it was all a hardware problem. See, I got a new box for as I had mentioned before but the on board Radeon Xpress 200 did not do HD very well so I went and got an Nvidia 6200 (I think was the model) Anyway it had a thing called TC or Turbo Cache technology that aloud it to use system memory as video memory when it need it. That is ok I guess except when for some reason there is a bug in the drivers that do not allow it to play nice with this ATI motherboard. I found a thread on the problem then quickly replaced my video card with a new 7600 GS and have not had a crash since. This was definitively the problem because I have been running stable for a while now and man it is great. |
